From your first steps on the field to competing on national stages, the Carolina Lacrosse Association (CLA) guides players at every stage of their lacrosse journey.

CLA Pathway Overview

The Carolina Lacrosse Association (CLA) provides a comprehensive and inclusive pathway for both boys and girls, guiding players of all skill levels from their first steps in lacrosse to national-level competition. Our program is built on four key stages:

  1. CLA Start: Introduction to lacrosse.

  2. CLA Play: Year-round academies, leagues, and spring competition options.

  3. CLA Travel: Regional club teams, including Select and Elite levels.

  4. Southern Stars: A high-level, all-star experience without the year-round commitment.

CLA Start – Building the Foundation

For boys and girls new to lacrosse or with limited experience. Focus on developing fundamental skills, teamwork, and confidence in a fun, supportive environment.

Programs Include: Free Introductory clinics & Weekly skill-building sessions.

CLA Play – Year-Round Development & Leagues

For players ready for structured play and skill improvement through academies, leagues, and spring competition options.

  • Programs Include:

    • Year-Round Train & Play Academies: Seasonal training & playing sessions.

    • Seasonal Leagues: Fun and competitive local games such as Polar Bear and Solar Bear League.

    • Spring Pathways: Choose between (or both):

      • CSLL (Carolina Select Lacrosse League): Competitive Spring travel league for our travel teams and players that features shot clocks, stat keeping and playoffs between other member clubs.

      • CLA Spring Rec: A recreational league focused on fun and skill-building for players of all skill levels from Kinder - 8th Grade

CLA Travel – Compete at the Next Level

For players ready to compete on regional or national stages with professional coaching and advanced development opportunities.

  • What It Offers:

    • Regional teams for boys and girls:

      • Team Carolina Boys (Charlotte).

      • Carolina Miners Boys (North Charlotte).

      • Style Lacrosse Girls (Carolinas)

    • Select Teams:

      • Regional focus with participation in fewer tournaments.

      • Ideal for players seeking strong competition with a lighter commitment.

      • Still places a strong emphasis on the recruitment and exposure of our players to college programs without traveling all over the country.

    • Elite Teams:

      • National focus with participation in higher-level tournaments.

      • Includes premium coaching and advanced development.

      • Players compete in high-caliber tournaments, receive recruiting support, and have access to additional Southern Stars opportunities.

  • Southern Stars Opportunities for Elite Players:

    • Invitation to Southern Stars events (details below).

    • Designed to provide additional elite competition for players who want more.

Southern Stars – Compete with the Best

For top players from CLA Travel Teams and partner programs seeking additional high-level competition.

  • What It Offers:

    • Combines top talent across regional clubs in the Southto form high-level all-star teams.

    • Event Schedule:

      • One premier event in the summer.

      • One premier event in the fall/winter.

    • Teams are formed by invite-only or tryouts if needed.

    • High-quality coaching, playing alongside the best players in the South, and competing in elite events.

  • Goal: Work around regional club schedules while providing "more" for players seeking elevated competition and development.

  • Commitment: A unique, high-level experience without the year-round travel commitment.
