Team Carolina is an elite, year-round travel program led by the best coaches in the Carolinas - made up of current/former college and high school coaches as well as current/former college players.

We place a heavy emphasis on the overall development of our athletes broken into three main pillars:

  • Technical & Tactical Development

  • Leadership Development

  • Physical Development

We believe in an all-inclusive, year-round model for those who earn a spot on one of our Team Carolina Teams. Our athletes benefit from the best coaching in the Carolinas and the most training opportunities all year-round.

Since the inception of our travel program, we’ve helped send over 260+ of our players to the next level.

Our History

In 2001, Mike Desmond formed the StickWithUs Organization and fielded the first ever travel team in North Carolina when the Charlotte Copperheads traveled to Annapolis, MD to play in the Father’s Day Invitational. The Copperheads were a mixture of 4th, 5th & 6th graders who competed in a very competitive U-13 bracket, going 0-5 that weekend, but returning to Charlotte with a renewed sense of confidence and determination to compete at the highest level. Several of the “original Copperheads” went on to play college lacrosse. The next summer, Team Charlotte U-17 (wearing purple and gold) formed to compete in the first ever Greensboro Lax Fest attended by three high school teams. For the next 20+ years, Mike Desmond and the StickWithUs Organization and the Carolina Lacrosse Association would build the most nationally recognized club program in the region under the Team Carolina, Team Charlotte, Carolina Colts, and the South Charlotte Cyclones brands.

In May 2022, Mike Desmond appointed Ricky Reyes of Reyes Sports Enterprises as the new owner of Team Carolina and the Carolina Lacrosse Association. Reyes Sports Enterprises is a professional sports management company that helps club teams and event organizers across the country deliver a premier experience.
