General Questions for All Families

Q1: What is the structure of the Carolina Lacrosse Association (CLA)?

A: CLA is organized into two main territories: CLA North (covering areas north of Charlotte, including Huntersville, Concord, and Denver) and CLA Charlotte (covering the greater Charlotte area, including Matthews and Pineville). Each territory has both boys’ and girls’ programs:

  • CLA North Boys: Carolina Miners

  • CLA North Girls: Style Select North (formerly Miners Girls)

  • CLA Charlotte Boys: Team Carolina

  • CLA Charlotte Girls: Charlotte Style

Q2: How will communication be handled for each program?

A: Communication for travel teams will continue to come from your dedicated directors for the upcoming year until the travel season is complete. We will help enhance current communications with families effective this Fall but continue to look at your existing leadership for specific communications on the season.

In the future, each territory has a dedicated communications manager for boys and girls programs. You will receive a weekly overview of the upcoming schedule, followed by reminders before key practices and events. We also send regular newsletters and updates through email and social media.

Q3: What should I do if I have questions or concerns?
A: For general inquiries or concerns, please reach out to the specific communications manager for your child’s program:

  • CLA North Boys (Carolina Miners): north@clalax.com

  • CLA North Girls (Style Select North): girls@clalax.com

  • CLA Charlotte Boys (Team Carolina): charlotte@clalax.com

  • CLA Charlotte Girls (Charlotte Style): girls@clalax.com

This transition will offer localized training and development while allowing players to compete at a higher level through Charlotte Style Elite teams.

Q3: Will the coaching staff remain the same?

A: For the most part, yes. We will conduct coaching evaluations throughout the year to ensure we have the best coaches and mentors for all of our athletes within CLA. Our goal is to ensure continuity while enhancing the experience with additional resources provided by CLA.

Q4: What opportunities will there be for elite-level competition?

A: Players from both CLA North (Carolina Miners and Style Select North) and CLA Charlotte (Team Carolina and Charlotte Style) will have the opportunity to participate in Southern Stars All-Star Teams, which provide access to higher-level competition. Q1: What can we expect immediately?

A: We will slowly roll out some enhancements to all members of the CLA North and CLA Charlotte families but travel programming will remain the same until the end of the season. We will be providing additional resources and training as early as this Fall to give players and families an opportunity to get to know who we are at CLA.

Q2: Can my child participate in both CLA North and CLA Charlotte programs?

A: Athletes can participate in non-travel team programming in either area as long as it works with a family logistically. For travel teams, more information on the future structure will be shared in the coming weeks.
